Luke Strobel Bike Check

Riding the iconic ‘Whole Enchilada’ Trail system in Moab, Utah is a feat in of itself – A true test of body, mind, and equipment. Finishing the trail without any mechanical mishaps, or even a single flat tire is an even larger accomplishment. Luke Strobel, aboard his EVIL Wreckoning on ENVE wheels, was able to achieve this during the entire process of filming, requiring many repeated laps on different sections.

“It was my first time riding in Moab, so heading into the trip – I had no idea what to expect. What really blew me away is the variety of terrain on one trail.”

161mm of travel on the 29” EVIL Wreckoning cruised down the steep sections of Burro Pass, pedaled easily through Hazzard and Kokopelli, while transitioning perfectly into a huck-worthy bike down UPS and LPS.

“The frame itself, is bone-stock, with no special modifications. It’s the exact same extra-legit product that any EVIL customer gets to pull out of the box.”

Along with ENVE M730 Wheels, equipped with the Protective Rim Strip, and the bike was suited for anything Luke or the trail could throw at it in any landscape.

Evil’s unique “Flip-Chip” helped Luke especially dial in his bike to the trails – allowing for different geometry options without affecting the suspension curve.

“I usually have all my bikes set up in the slacker/lower of the two settings, but for whatever reason the higher of the two settings seem to sort out Moab’s trails a bit better. Swapping the Flip-Chip over was a quick ten-minute trailside fix requiring just a 5mm hex key.”

Strobel’s tire choice and setup illustrates the versatility of the ENVE M-series wheels. Providing the right width and protection you need to allow for lighter tires, lower pressures, and ultimately more confidence.

“Oh – Also – I didn’t get one puncture on the entire shoot. Thanks for letting me be a part of this project!” – Luke Strobel
