G SES is where aerodynamics meet the realities of modern gravel. As gravel racing has evolved, the demands on equipment have changed with it. Higher speeds now require larger-volume tires – not only for comfort and handling, but to prevent flats from hidden rocks and ruts in the pace line. Pair those speeds with today’s wide tires, and a huge aerodynamic opportunity opens up. All three G SES models are built on the same design philosophy as our Tour de France-winning SES road wheels. Dissimilar front and rear rim search shaped for the unique airflow, stability, and efficiency demands of its position create a system optimized as a whole. We’ve also carried forward the SES approach to tire and rim width optimization.
As tire widths increase, so too does the rim width to maintain clean airflow across the rim's sidewall. The result is significant aerodynamic savings at the modern tire sizes that today’s gravel riders actually use.
TIRE PAIRING FOR SPEED
- Rim widths tuned for aerodynamic performance with modern high volume tires
- Minimum tire size cited is primarily to ensure aerodynamic performance
- If delta between inner rim with dimension and tire width is below 10 mm, there is a higher probability for pinch-flats
- G SES wheels tested to ENVE tire retention standard
- In the case that tire and rim max pressures are different, the lower of the two pressures becomes the default max pressure for the system

OFF ROAD CARBON EXPERTISE
ENVE’s expertise in making rims that have the impact strength to endure the most demanding off-road terrain goes back nearly two decades. The needs of an off-road are different than on road, which requires unique test protocols and design elements.
One such element borrowed from our line of mountain bike wheels is the Wide Hookless Bead technology that reduces pinch flats by creating a wider, blunt leading edge that dissipates impact energy.

- The wheel is impacted at every spoke hole. After all impacts are completed, the drop height is increased for another round of impacts at every spoke hole
