LIGHTNESS AND WIDTH

We set out to create a wheel that would maximize speed, fun and reliability while riding out-there terrain. At only 330 grams, the G23 is the lightest 700c tubeless rim ENVE produces. This makes for instant acceleration and endless ascending capability. The wide and shallow rim geometry gives a compliant ride quality over chatter, and allows for use with a wide range of tire sizes. Big tires = big grip, which gives the G23 confidence-inspiring descending capability over its road-oriented siblings. 

TIRE SAVING TECH

With an inner rim width of 23mm, the G23 is designed to be paired with gravel treads between 35 and 45mm. Tires in these widths provide control and traction that optimize the experience of gravel riding endeavors. Many tires in this spec however do not offer much by way of pinch-flat protection. The forward-looking G23 uses our Wide Hookless Bead anti-flat technology to combat ride-ending pothole encounters. Wide beads provide a larger, more forgiving surface during bottom outs, protecting the tire from the dreaded pinch-flat. This technology means you can ride the tire pressures you want, confidently, without limitations. 

TUBELESS DOMINANCE

G series wheels are intended for tubeless applications and feature a molded bead-lock to ensure that your tires will remain secure and sealed to the rim over even the roughest terrain. Despite ‘minimum PSI’ markings to the contrary, many riders are experimenting with pressure setting in the 20s, thanks to the bead-lock and Wide Hookless Bead technologies.

Simply put, the G23 exceeds the performance and ride quality demands of serious mixed surface cyclists. Armed against pinch flats, with a tough, relentless but refined character, it is the king of the road, path and trail.

Innerdrive Premium Road Hub

Featured in all SES and G Series wheels is the ENVE Premium Straight Pull hub, an all-new, 100% ENVE drive mechanism. Oversized steel ratchets are positioned inboard and over the bearings, reducing stress on the axle and bearings while ensuring positive and reliable engagement.   • Four Engagement Options: Interchangeable ratchets allow riders to tune their rides for their personal performance needs. Whether it be maximizing efficiency, response, or reliability, we have a solution. Ratchet options include: 40 tooth, 60t, 80t, 100t.

WIDE HOOKLESS BEADS

As carbon rims have become hookless and increasingly more durable, we have transitioned from rim failures to tire failures. Wearing a tire tread down to the casing is a thing of the past as most tires are lucky if they survive 50 miles of aggressive riding over obstacle laden terrain. While destroying an expensive tire on a weekly basis isn’t affordable, it’s a complete interruption of flow, and an utter buzzkill with a flat tire, regulated to the side of the trail.

ENVE’s wide hookless bead is the result of 2 years of carbon mountain bike rim development to address this above scenario. The result is a rim shape that features a wider leading edge of the hookless bead. This broad surface creates a more forgiving platform on which the tire can bottom out, and proves extremely effective in reducing the likelihood of “pinch” or “snake-bite” style flat.

In addition to greatly improving tire performance and reliability, the wide hookless bead design beefs up the leading edge of the rim and allows for greater impact resistance.

  • Tested to ENVE mountain impact standard
  • Rated for unsuspended to lightly suspended bikes under the assumptions that technical terrain and obstacles are negotiated at lower speeds than mountain bike
  • Mountain strong, but not ENVE mountain strong.

G23 saved the day

I have a set of G23s on a BMC URS. Day 2 on the 2024 TransRockies Gravel Royale included a significant 10km descent. I ended up hitting a rock so hard I was sure my wheel was compromised. Not even a scratch. Well done Enve.
