After completing an 1,100 mile race around Lake Michigan in July, I swore I would never do another ultra on 28mm tires. The road conditions in the USA are terrible and getting worse.
Enve bikes were not initially on my radar, but after looking at the specs for the Fray I knew it would be an excellent bike for the type of riding and racing that I do. The geometry is that of a proper endurance road bike; relaxed and comfortable with tire clearance up to 40mm, but with relatively short chain stays, and seat tube and head tube angles that make sense for a road bike. The Fray is not a gravel bike trying to pass as a road bike. It is a purpose-built endurance road bike with generous tire clearance.
I built mine up with the Enve in-route aero road stem, Enve compact road in-route handlebar, a Shimano Dura-Ace di2 2x12 drivetrain, and 35mm Enve SES road tires. Steering is consistent and predictable, the bike feels planted and stable through corners, and the "comfort benefit" of the larger volume tires is significant. It's everything I expected it to be. I love it!
