The team at Alchemy Bikes are no strangers to custom bicycle frames and paint designs. Now in his second year with the Colorado based bike manufacturer, rider Cody Kelley wanted to present Alchemy with an even bolder and more challenging paint idea than ever before, known as, ‘Dazzle Camo’.

Used originally on military ships in the past to confuse and throw-off missles, this paint scheme was a full-on project for the Alchemy team.

“We came to the idea of ‘Dazzle Camo’ and it was too exciting to pass up…This actually presented a bit of a challenge because, when painting bikes, you have to be conscientious of how the pattern will wrap around the tubes and make it in a way so you don’t get seams. Working on larger surfaces, it’s not so much of an issue, but it’s always a challenge when working on bike designs. We were able to get it done though and it came out super clean.” said Alchemy Brand Manager Drew Van Kampen.

With ENVE M730 wheels and the M7 handlebar, the Arktos 29 was built to be versatile enough for use in different race events over the course of the Sea Otter weekend. Kelley certainly made use of the bike and the unique paint design by coming away with 2nd in the Dual Slalom and 5th in the Downhill.

We’re excited to see this bike and Cody Kelley take on the rest of the season. Follow along with @alchemybikes and @kelleymtb
