Team Clif Bar - Disc Brake and Tubeless Crit Racers

For over five years, ENVE has partnered with the criterium focused Team Clif Bar to help support them in tackling the biggest crits in the country, including the USA Crit Series.

The USA Crit Series, which comprises 11 rounds of the most competitive and prestigious criteriums in the US, is the team’s major focus for the season. After winning the Team Overall standings in 2018, Clif Bar finished 2nd in the Team Overall standings in 2019. For 2020, the team has pulled out all of the newest technological bicycle advances to help them take back their title, and continue their attacking and dynamic racing style.

The biggest change for 2020 is the team switching to disc-brake bikes from VYNL and wheels from ENVE. Using the aerodynamic SES 5.6 Disc and SES 7.8 Disc wheels allows the team to utilize a lighter weight disc wheel to accelerate and attack quickly, while also braking later into turns for more speed. Similarly, the team will run full tubeless setups with the help of tire sponsor, Maxxis. The advancements of road tubeless can help the team run lower tire pressures to better grip through the fast corners.

“Tubeless really raises my confidence in racing,” says team veteran Pete Morris, affectionately known on the crit circuit as, ‘Thor’. “The ability to run lower pressures and breakaway from the pack through faster cornering alone is such an advantage.”

With ENVE on hand at two of the USA Crits races in Boise and SLC, we’ll be sure to show their successes and experiences here and on @enveracing and @clifbarracing
